Rev. Dr. Bruce T. Anderson is pastor of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, which is known for its Jazz Vespers. Pastor Anderson was a professional jazz musician before entering the ministry in the 1970s. He brings in notable musicians for this program which seeks to honor jazz musicians in the area by giving them a setting that is warm, intimate and welcoming of their gifts.
Jazz Vespers is also an outreach and social ministry project which donates a portion of the free will offering to LSSI/Augustana Ministries for the Disabled and is matched by Thrivent Financial Services.
Vespers begin with a gathering and greeting time at 7:30 pm, with the actual program beginning at 7:45 pm.
Following the Vespers, a coffee and refreshment hour is held in the church basement.
Shermer Road is off Dempster Street, one light east of Harlem. The church is a half mile south of Dempster, set back on the west side of the street, with parking in the rear.
