Heather Moran

" Moran's voice is hauntingly evocative of eras past but the spirit that emerges from these songs distinctly says, 'now' and 'today.' Here's a charming and compelling new jazz/pop presence. You're sure to be hearing more from Heather Moran. Justice, not to mention good taste, demands it."

--Gordon Kopulos, Freelance Writer and Contributing Editor, Down Beat Magazine, 1972-1985

“To me you use your voice like Frank Sinatra and here’s where I’m going with this. Sinatra, having worked with big bands, knew how you use his voice as an instrument…Heather Moran is an amazingly talented lady.
Steve King, The Steve and Johnnie Show, WGN 720am

“… Heather Moran works her way through a set of familiar standards like the consummate professional that she is on "Heatherland" … As a tribute to her skills as an interpreter, Moran's versions of "Lover Man," "A Day In the Life of A Fool" and "The Way You Look Tonight" are like a breath of fresh air blowing off Lake Michigan.
-Gregg Shapiro, Chicago Free Press

Born and raised in Illinois, Heather Moran has been performing for most of her life. She studied voice as a child at New Trier High School and Northwestern University in Illinois. As an adult, she studied opera at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pennsylvania, and the University of Colorado. She eventually returned to Chicago to earn a BA in Theater from Columbia College.

Heather has performed in many settings: nightclubs, weddings, private and corporate functions, and most notably, on Navy Pier's two premiere dinner cruise ships, Mystic Blue and The Odyssey. Some venues she has appeared at include: San Francisco's Empire Plush Room, Drury Lane Water Tower, Katerina’s, Grant Park, Andy’s Jazz, Park West, The Acorn Theater in Michigan’s Three Oaks, Café Luciano, The Stonefire Restaurant, The Oak Park Carleton Hotel, Hugo's Frog Bar, Tivoli, Tuscany-Wheeling, Webster’s Wine Bar, Magnum's Steakhouse, Davenport’s, Gold Star Sardine Bar, Martyr's, and Joy Blue. She just recently ended an 12-month engagement at Chicago Old Town’s wonderful Bistrot Margot and can be seen frequently performing at Katerina’s on Irving Park. She was recently a regular performer at Tivoli Ristorante in West Chicago and frequently performs for the city of Chicago’s Cultural Affairs department. Heather occasionally sits in as the vocalist for the house band at Pirro's Ristorante Jazz jam in Woodstock, Illinois.

Heather is currently singing in the critically acclaimed musical trio, 3Girls3, performing a nostalgic '40s show, a hit Burt Bacharach review, and a Christmas show. Frequently, Heather can be seen singing with the Damian Espinosa Quartet and with Alan Gresick's eighteen piece Swing Shift Orchestra. Heather is an active member of Chicago Cabaret Professionals and currently serves on the board as Co-Press Governor.

Heather also has an exciting new duo with phenomenal guitarist Gabriel Datcu. It's a fantastic union, with voice and guitar creating a pretty amazing sound. For more information, please visit their My Space site at http://www.myspace.com/morananddatcu
