Julie V, vocalist and leader, began her performing career in theatre where she racked up an impressive list of professional credits.

This artist is an amalgam of her work in many art forms and an artistic multi-tasker in the fullest sense: professional actress, liturgical cantor, big-band singer, cabaret chanteuse, and storyteller.

Highlights of her theatrical career include the role of Nellie Forbush in South Pacific; Chris in Rumours; Heather in Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road; Maxine Andrews in Prologue Theatre’s adaptation of Studs Terkl’s The Good War, later aired on WFMT Radio; and Maggie in the Jeff-Award winning musical Son of Fire produced by Bailiwick Repertory.

Over the past 10 years Julie V has focused all her creative energies on developing a compelling jazz style, with a rich and varied repertoire. Building on her considerable training in bel canto methods and theatrical improv, she has developed her unique performance style engaging each listener in a soulful journey accompanied by the depth and the breadth of her musical persona.

In 2000 she released Something New, her first jazz CD. She wrote the lyrics for the title song composed by saxophonist Bernard Scavella, with whom she frequently performs. She has performed extensively throughout the greater
