Mike Jeffers Mike Jeffers
Drumset
President of Chicago Jazz Publishing and Entertainment,INC.

Jeffers first started studying percussion at Oakton Community College with well known percussion teacher Jake Jerger, when he was still in high school. Jake seeing that he picked things up quickly and never stopped practicing pushed him quickly through the basic percussion technique. Within a matter of 6 months, Jeffers only 17, soon found himself performing with 20 and 30 year olds in an advanced percussion ensemble and jazz band. The next year with the same percussion ensemble Jeffers performed in New York's famed Carnegie Hall.

Three years after high school Jeffers attended the University of North Texas on a full scholarship. He performed and toured with many of the ensembles at the university, including the World Championship Drumline. While at North Texas Jeffers studied with Dr. Robert Schitroma, Ed Soph, Dan Robbins, Shi.Wu, Michael Waldrop, Paul Rennick, and Tom Float.

Upon returning to Chicago, Jeffers began studying with Chicago drummer Joel Spencer and began performing throughout the Chicagoland area. During the swing dancing resurgence in the mid ninety’s Jeffers was a member of Miss Midori and the Jazz Inquisition, in which he toured the Midwest and recorded for Southport Records.

Jeffers also joined the Eric Remshneider Trio, electric cello player for the super group The Smashing Pumpkins, and performed weekends at the world famous Peninsula Hotel in Chicago for over four years. During his years at the Peninsula Jeffers performed for many celebrities and world leaders which helped him develop his entertainment company Chicago Jazz Entertainment. From his years of experience working with high end clients at the Peninsula Hotel, corporate receptions and private events throughout the Midwest, Jeffers has created several different musical groups that help to create the perfect atmosphere for any event. Below are several samples of just some of those groups:
