Description:

Chicago vocalist, trumpeter and composer Jeannie Tanner has just released her new c.d. PROMISE ME THE MOON. PROMISE ME THE MOON, Tanner's fifth release, will remind listeners of the romantic music of the 1930’s and 40’s. The light, swing rhythm and charming lyrics of Tanner’s title track Promise me the Moon set the tone for this warm-hearted collection of love songs.

Twelve of the c.d.'s fourteen tracks are Tanner’s original J-Pop (Jazz-Pop) compositions, her signature blend of Jazz, Pop, R&B, Blues and Latin Rhythms. The result is a fresh, imaginative collection of sing-along tunes that tell stories of love and romance.

From C’est Bon, C’est Bon, an upbeat tune with French lyrics and a Latin beat; to the dreamy My One True Love which smoothly slips and slides between 3/4, 5/8 and 6/8; to Three Wishes, a wild musical magic carpet ride, Tanner demonstrates her versatility as a songwriter, bandleader and performer, while effectively transporting listeners with tunes that are reminiscent of the sweet, popular music of the 1930s and 40s. Track four, Fred and Ginger is, in fact, Tanner’s tribute to Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers.

The 14 tracks flow seamlessly, engaging listeners with Tanner’s crystalline vocals and lyrical trumpet stylings. Her original melodies flow effortlessly over the music she wrote and recorded with her extraordinarily talented team of musicians: Lisa McQueen, piano; Cory Biggerstaff, bass; Darlene DuFay, drums; and Neal Alger, guitar.
