The Clearwater Jazz Holiday, now in its twenty-ninth year, will present some of jazz's finest talent October 16 to 19. This year's event will present diversity in styles with a wide variety for the guests to enjoy. The world-class event attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Clearwater, Florida the third weekend in October.
The 2008 schedule will not be announced until September, but over the years the Clearwater Jazz Holiday has featured such legendary talents as Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Mann, Dave Brubeck, Tito Puente, Stephan Grappelli, Stan Getz, and the Count Basie Orchestra, to name only a few. Today’s most popular and innovative jazz stars have also made stops in Clearwater, including Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Al Dimeola, Kevin Mahogany, Hiroshima, Julian Coryell, the Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra, Acoustic Alchemy, Herbie Hancock, Paquito D’Rivera with New York Voices, Rick Braun, The Neville Brothers, Branford Marsalis, Stanley Clarke, Bela Fleck, Jean-Luc Ponty, Koko Taylor, Boney James, Kenny G, Manhattan Transfer, Buckwheat Zydeco, George Benson, Natalie Cole, Medeski Martin & Wood, Peabo Bryson, Norman Brown, Jeff Lorber, Marion Meadows and Cherry Poppin’ Daddies.
Presented in the twenty-acre landscaped Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater overlooking beautiful Clearwater Harbor and the majestic Memorial Causeway Bridge, the Jazz Holiday is four days and four nights of some of the best live jazz performance in the world presented free to the public. The visitor experience is complemented by the Clearwater area’s mild fall weather, miles of world-famous Gulf beaches, brilliant sunsets, nearby attractions, accommodations and dining to suit every taste and budget.
