Birch Creek Music Performance Center in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin, offers students a unique learning experience at levels of jazz performance not found in most other jazz programs in America. Our program gives students an effective combination of experiences to help them master the fundamentals of jazz while establishing professional practice and performance attitudes.
Birch Creek provides students with top-flight instruction and a chance to play side-by-side with today’s top performers and educators. In addition to Jazz, Birch Creek also offers sessions in Percussion & Steel Band and Symphony. Enrollment is limited to 55 students ages 14-19 with a student-to-teacher ratio of 2-to-1. Auditions required.
Birch Creek was founded in 1976 by Jim and Fran Dutton.

Chicago Jazz Philharmonic/UIC Jazz Academy is a UIC sponsored summer program that builds on CJP's school year programming known as “JazzAlive.”
Jazz Alive brings music to Chicago at-risk schools with little to no music program. Established in 2009, student’s grades 5 – 12 develop skills and knowledge about music and performance through participation in various ensembles such as Jazz Band, Drumline, Handchimes, and Strings. Additional courses offered range from Jazz Aesthetics to Improvisation, Jazz History to Instrument Technique. Located on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago, the camp will open up new opportunities for the participants.

Students need to register in advance for the CJP/UIC Jazz Academy.
Daily Activities:
Enhance their jazz education and develop their musical skills by have unique opportunities to learn from, play alongside and perform with professional CJP Artists-in-Residence. The students will have access to private practice rooms, rehearsal halls, and performance venues in order to practice and perform throughout the day. They will also learn important life skills, such as setting goals, time management, team work, communication, and positive interaction with their peers. Plus they will encounter specific campus-based activities at UIC will introduce students to a college campus, while encouraging them to seek higher education.
Tuition: $225 (Financial aid and scholarships are available) Tuition includes coursework, materials, recreational activities and lunch daily.

The Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp is a comprehensive week-long program designed to foster the aspiring jazz vocalist’s artistic concept, musical knowledge, performance and improvisation skills by working with an outstanding artist faculty of professional performing and recording artists. The entire curriculum focuses on the solo vocalist. All ages welcome from high school and college students to adult vocalists and jazz educators.
Nightly staff artist concerts and student jam sessions. The week concludes with a final concert featuring individual students with the Staff Rhythm Section.

Camp History:
For almost forty years, musicians from all over the globe have turned to Jamey Aebersold’s "Summer Jazz Workshops" to improve their jazz playing. During this time, the workshops have earned a reputation for producing the best intensive programs for learning jazz improvisation. Whether a beginning improviser or a seasoned pro, you’ll leave the Workshops and Seminars with tons of new and exciting ideas about how to improve your playing.
Each year, the Summer Jazz Workshops assemble more than sixty of the nation’s leading educators and performers dedicated to providing an intensive learning experience for musicians of all ages and levels. Theory Classes, Ear Training, Combo Performance, and Master Class Sessions allow individuals the opportunity to grow and develop to their fullest potential.
The week-long workshops are the best place to learn jazz through hands-on experience. With over sixty All-Star faculty members for each week, participants are assured of getting plenty of attention in rehearsals and classes. We welcome all instruments, including rhythm section, strings and vocalists.
