Deep Blue Organ Trio's Folk Music won the 2008 Chicago Music Award for Best Jazz CD. Deep Blue Organ Trio members include organist Chris Foreman, drummer Greg Rockingham, and one of Chicago Jazz's own, guitarist Bobby Broom. The Chicago Music Awards " is the only awards program of its kind in Chicago to pay tribute to Chicago born and bred artists and entertainers," said CMA founder and producer, Ephraim Martin. "Reggae and reggaeton, jazz and blues, rap and hip-hop, classical, country & western and even polka—we have music for nearly every possible taste." In addition to winning the award, Folk Music was a strong Number Two on the JazzWeek National Airplay Charts for four weeks in a row. Other CMA awards went to Andy's for Best Jazz Club, and Dee Alexander, for Jazz Entertainer of the Year.
