The PianoForte Foundation, one of Chicago's vibrant contributors to the classical and jazz music scene, is presenting piano/drum duo Anthony Molinaro and Michael Raynor on Friday, November 14th at 6:00 pm. This unique combination is a new project devised by Molinaro, an award-winning classical and jazz virtuoso, and Raynor, member of Von Freeman’s quartet and one of the city’s most in-demand jazz drummers.

Hailed as "one of the hottest young pianists in the world," Anthony Molinaro's stunning performances and unique versatility have captivated audiences and critics alike since his victory at the 1997 Naumburg International Piano Competition. Acclaimed for his "edge-of-the-seat brilliance" and "musically imaginative mind," Mr. Molinaro's performances have taken him to major music centers throughout the U.S. and abroad. In addition to the traditional classical concert repertoire, Mr. Molinaro is also a gifted composer and jazz artist, giving him a musical dimension uncommon to artists of his generation.

Michael Raynor has been a regular member of Von Freeman’s quartet for fifteen years, and has toured extensively and recorded Grammy-nominated albums with vocalist Kurt Elling. He has toured North America, Europe, and Australia and performed at world renowned jazz festivals including the North Sea in Holland, Montreaux in Switzerland, and several appearances at the Chicago Jazz Festival, with the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove, Jon Faddis, Arturo Sandavol, Jon Hendricks, Steve Coleman, Sam Rivers, Jason Moran, Ira Sullivan, Eric Alexander, Bob Sheppard, Bobby Broom, Fareed Haque, Charles Earland, Kahil El' Zabar, and Jack DeJohnette.

PianoForte's Jazz Salon Series presents jazz in a small concert venue in the Fine Arts Building, a fresh alternative to the city’s dark, late-night clubs. Invited musicians are free to experiment with new projects, and the intimacy of the setting promotes a meaningful connection between the audience and artists. All concerts are recorded and broadcast on radio station WDCB (90.9 FM) on Sundays from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
