Tenor saxophonist Ari Brown and will bring his quartet to the Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway, on Friday, November 20, from 9PM until 1AM, and Saturday, November 21, from 8PM until midnight. Pianist Kirk Brown, bassist Josef bin Israel, and drummer Avreeayl Ra will complete the quartet.

A member of the AACM, Ari Brown is also a composer, arranger and educator with a wide range of interests and accomplishments. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the premier of the opera “Malcolm X”, played on movie scores and has toured with Billy Eckstein, Lou Rawls, Elvin Jones, and Anthony Braxton. His talent on the saxophone and other instruments such as the clarinet and piano has taken him all over the world showcasing his music.

Although normally considered an avant-garde musician, Brown is also fluent in bop and post-bop. Delmark has released albums by him including “Venus”, a quartet CD with his brother Kirk on piano, and “Ultimate Frontier”. Brown also is a member of Kahil El’Zabar’s Ritual Trio and has recorded for Delmark with this band.
