To kick off the evening, a JazzLinks student ensemble led by John Foster will open the concert at 7 PM.
Then we will move on to our annual Bebop Brass concert. As always, a look to the past and the future. This year the show will feature Orbert Davis, David Young and Pharez Whitted on trumpets, Tom Garling, TS Galloway and Norman Palm on trombones, Ken Chaney on piano, Joshua Ramos on bass and Makaya McCraven on drums.
Where else can you hear a nonet (well, in this case a tentet) of brass players that span generations and musical styles? Where musicians get to premiere new compositions (look for new pieces from T.S. Galloway, Tom Garling and Ken Chaney) and strut their stuff in a setting that welcomes friends, fans and families.
