Saxophonist Bob Centano passed away on April 15, at the age of 72. The longtime musician and bandleader toured with some of the great bands of the big band era, including the bands of Tex Beneke, Les and Larry Elgart, Ralph Flanagan, Ralph Martiere and Claude Thornhill, as well as playing the jazz circuit in Chicago with many notables, including longtime friend Bob Ojeda.
The Bob Centano Scholarship Fund has been set up to benefit future professional Chicagoland musicians through music education.
