Chicago Creative Arts On Line (CCAO) announces the First Annual BlackOut Festival on Saturday, March 21, “A Tribute Fred Anderson” at the Velvet Lounge, 67 East Cermak, at 8:00 pm. As part of the Fest, CCAO will present the first annual Chicago Creative Excellence in Music awards.
The line-up for this historic event features some of the best creative improvisers in the world: Ernest Dawkins and the New Horizons Ensemble (Steve Berry, Darius Savage, Isaiah Spencer with special guest Corey Wilkes), the Dee Alexander Quartet (Miguel de la Cerna, Harrison Bankhead, Leon Joyce with special guest Nicole Mitchell), Ari Brown Quartet (Kirk Brown, Yosef Ben Israel, Avreeayl Ra with special guest Pharez Whitted), “Jam for Fred” (with above, plus special guests Hamiet Bluiett, Henry Grimes and more).
