"This is Chicago Jazz" show with Mike Jeffers heard on Avenue 950am every Tuesday night 8pm-10pm featured a passionate discussion about promotion of music in Chicago hotels. It seems three different hotels in Chicago just this month has changed their music policy and Mike along with Charley Krebs and Nick Eipers discuss some of the motivations for the changes.
At the 8:30pm hour Greg Pasenko, founder and owner of BlueJazz Productions in Chicago and also the owner of the new Club BluJazz soon to open in Chicago, called in to discuss his relationship with legendary drummer Ed Thigpen.
Greg helped Ed for the past few years promote his new recordings and concerts. Mike and Greg discuss Ed's life and musical approach to drumming.
They also touch on a few new details of the new Club BluJazz opening in March.The 9pm hour features an in depth interview with Chicago saxophonist Eric Schneider.
Eric discusses his recent feature interview in Chicago Jazz Magazine, his thought on playing and performing with the many different groups he has worked with and also some essentials musicians should think about when it comes to learning tunes and improvising.
