CHICAGO YESTET
RECORD RELEASE PARTY
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2008

In celebration of the release of “Jazz is Politics?”, the Chicago Yestet will perform at the Green Mill Jazz Club, 4802 N. Broadway, on Saturday, December 20, from 8PM until midnight. The 12-piece group includes Pat Mallinger on sax, Scott Burns on sax, John Wojciechowski on sax, Brent Turney on trumpet, Victor Garcia on trumpet, Tom Garling on trumpet, Joel Adams on trombone, Dan Trudell on piano, Jeff Parker on guitar, Clark Sommers on bass, Dana Hall on drums, Rob Dz on vocals.

In keeping with an election that reflects the country's deep desire for change, what began as a “no”-net gave way to the formation of the Chicago Yestet. Consisting of seven of Chicago's most creative horn players, a hard-hitting rhythm section and the spoken word sophistry of Rob Dz., they play original, groove-oriented, politically-charged jazz music. They honor the many courageous musicians in all traditions who have had the audacity to become relevant by addressing social issues through music and thank to Charles Mingus, Paul Robeson, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, John Coltrane, Neil Young, Phil Ochs, Jackson Browne, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Sting, Charlie Haden, Bob Marley, Ani DiFranco, Rage Against the Machine and many others for paving the way!
