SINGER/SONGWRITER ELIZABETH DOYLE:
A featured guest on Marian McPartland’s NPR program Piano Jazz, Elizabeth was the magnet for many years at Chicago’s famed Pump Room. Recently, she performed at the Dank Haus presenting a World War II cabaret and at the North Lakeside Jazz Supper Club night in “Not Just a Boys Club: Women’s Contributions to the Great American Songbook.”
Doyle had three of her musicals on stage this past fall: “Sleepy Hollow”with productions in Chicago and California; “The White City” presented at the Writers Bloc Festival and at IIT sponsored by the Mies Van der Rohe
Society; and, “Duo,” given a reading at Theater Building Chicago. This past May, she was music-director and performer in a tribute to Blossom Dearie at Skokie Theatre sponsored by Three Cat Media Productions. She
has two CDs available, “Elizabeth Doyle” and “Time Flies.”
SINGER/SONGWRITER JODI JEAN AMBLE:
Jodi Jean Amble traces her artistic roots to theater and then musical theater and opera. A classically trained vocalist, Jodi found her way into modern genres including jazz, country, rockabilly, bossa nova and
pop. Through this journey, Jodi felt the deepest connection to expressing narratives through song and rhythm.
Upon this foundation, Jodi learned to tell her most personal narrative through her original musical composition. In 2009, Jodi assembled a cadre
of some of Chicago’s finest musicians to complement her veracious tone and subtle poetry. Today, the Jodi Jean Band brings their talent and passion to standards and originals performing all over Chicago and the Midwest.
Host, JeannieTanner, is an award winning singer/songwriter/composer who plays trumpet and performs with her group, the Jeannie Tanner Quartet. Tanner's c.d., PROMISE ME THE MOON, was on the 2009 Grammy list for ballot
consideration in 4 categories. She has opened for Kurt Elling (at the Park West) and Tony Orlando (Pheasant Run Resort); shared the stage with Joan Cusack, Studs Terkel and a host of other beloved Chicagoans; and headlined
the Best Buy Stage at the Taste of Chicago (2008, 2009 & will again this year, July 3rd, 2010).
Ms. Tanner's new release, YOU CAN KISS ME INTO ANYTHING, is her fourth CD in three years and includes all original tracks with her signature j-pop (jazz-pop) style. Tanner blends jazz, blues, R&B, pop and Latin rhythm into her unique sound. Her music has already been featured in many
TV/Film projects, including Culinary Travels with Dave Eckert (PBS), Days of Our Lives and several indie feature films.
Ms. Tanner has also performed and recorded her original music with drummer Matt Walker (Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan & Garbage); bassist Brett Simons (Mighty Blue Kings & Jennifer Love Hewitt); pianist Ryan Cohan (composer/arranger for the Chicago Symphony Jazz Ensemble and Ramsey Lewis); multi-instrumentalist & composer Scott Bennett (Brian Wilson’s Band) bassist Jim Cammack (Ahmad Jamal & Nancy Wilson); and bassist Clark
Sommers (Mighty Blue Kings and Dan Cray Trio).
