Elate Chicago
Starting Saturday, May 28th Elate welcomes the music of Golden Mean with Mike Jeffers featuring vocalist Stephanie Browning to its already popular Live Jazz Nights. In the heart of Chicago’s River North Neighborhood, Elate at the Hotel Felix will be featuring this unique group while providing an array of specialty cocktails and casual fine dining cuisine set in a cozy, charming atmosphere.

The trendy River North restaurant which features a modern meets rustic dining room, floor to ceiling windows that look out onto Clark Street and an outdoor terrace that seats over 50 people will be the new weekend home to this celebrated local jazz/pop group.

Golden Mean got their start as the premier group on Fridays and Saturdays at the world famous Peninsula Hotel Chicago. For over four years the group performed for celebrities and VIPs while creating a unique atmosphere that has not been duplicated since. With Browning’s ability to transverse musical styles and Jeffers unique rhythms, the band performs a diverse musical repertoire that finds an even divide between jazz standards, pop/rock and R&B music.

“Expect to hear music by Sting, Robert Palmer, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Rev. Al Green and even Steely Dan,” say’s Jeffers, the group’s drummer and publisher of Chicago Jazz Magazine. “We are creating a vibe for the people that want to enjoy a night out in a hip and trendy place and avoid the loud and crazy club scene of Chicago.”

Combine Golden Mean’s music with Elate’s, outdoor terrace, inviting lounge/dining room, wine and cocktail selection, local and organic menu and the late night Charcuterie Board featuring meats, sausages and cheeses and you have the perfect setting to enjoy a Saturday night.

The music will begin at 9pm and continue until12:30am every Saturday. For reservations call (312) 202-9900, or visit www.ElateChicago.com.

About the Golden Mean
The group is made up of several prominent musicians from Chicago. Drummer Mike Jeffers has performed throughout the country with several different groups but is based out of Chicago. He is also the CEO of Chicago Jazz Publishing and Entertainment which publishes the #1 resource for jazz information in Chicago, Chicago Jazz Magazine and ChicagoJazz.com.

In addition, he also works with the city of Chicago and publishes the official program book for the Chicago Blues Festival and Jazz Festival. His entertainment company helps book music for many different events throughout the city including the Taste of Chicago, Chicago Blues Festival and Chicago Jazz Festival.

Stephanie Browning made a name for herself as the Artist-in-residence at the world renowned Gold Star Sardine Bar, a listening room reminiscent of Paris in the ‘30s. The venue was an international gem and captivated audiences assisted Stephanie in building her name and reputation for quality and creative interpretations of music. In addition Browning has also performed on the Saga Records Swedish Concert Tour with saxophonist Johan Stengård. She has done a Japanese Tour with guitarist Akio Sasajima highlighted by a concert in Sapporo’s historic clock tower along with several performances in Tokyo with bassist Stan Gilbert. Other performances include twice headlining at the Yellowstone Jazz Festival, a tour of the Rockies with drummer Ronnie Bedford and Jazz Hall of Fame bassist Bob Magnusson, an extended run at the exclusive Champagne Bar in Hong Kong and a Scandinavian Holiday Tour.
