ElMHURST COLLEGE JAZZ BAND TO PLAY AT THE JAZZ SHOWCASE
Award-Winning Group to Give Free Performance at Legendary Home of Jazz
ELMHURST, Ill., October 29, 2008 – The Elmhurst College Jazz Band will play live at one of Chicago’s oldest jazz clubs, The Jazz Showcase, on November 3.
The performance, which begins at 8:00 p.m. at The Jazz Showcase (located at 806 S. Plymouth Court, Chicago), will be led by Grammy Award-winner and Elmhurst College Director of Jazz Studies, Doug Beach.
The Jazz Band will give two sets during this special evening. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
"It is an honor to perform at such a legendary home of Chicago Jazz," said Beach. "Joe Segal (the club’s owner) has been the keeper of the jazz flame in Chicago for many years, and The Showcase is known all over the world."
The Elmhurst College Jazz Band, is more than a goodwill ambassador for the College and City of Elmhurst. The Band has earned strong reviews during its two dozen performance tours, which include the Montreux and Umbria Jazz festivals. In 2001, the Band took center stage at the venerable Chicago Jazz Festival and accompanied Dee Dee Bridgewater after an express invitation. The Jazz Band’s newest CDs will also be for sale at the show.
