The 27th Annual Frank Mantooth Jazz Festival at New Trier High School will take place Saturday, February 6th, 2010. The Mantooth festival is one of the largest, most highly non-competitive high school jazz festivals in the country, featuring some of the finest and most dedicated music educators, as well as many of the country's most accomplished jazz musicians.

The festival kicks off at 8:30 AM and will conclude with the evening concert featuring New Trier's Jazz Ensemble 1, followed by The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Since 1966 the VJO, founded by Thad Jones and Mel Lewis (originally named the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra) has been holding court every Monday night at the Village Vanguard, the oldest and most famous jazz club in the world! We are thrilled to welcome the VJO to New Trier, and are certain that their performance will be memorable.

A very limited number of tickets are still available for the evening concert. Click HERE for online ticket sales. This concert sells out every year, so please get your tickets quickly! All tickets are reserved seating. Tickets are $30.

Also performing at this year's Mantooth Jazz Festival:

12:00 on the Main Stage - The John Wojciechowski Quintet
John Wojciechowski, saxophones
Dave Miller, guitar
Ryan Cohen, piano
Denis Carroll, bass
Dana Hall, drums

2:35 on the Main Stage - The Jazz Director's Big Band

4:00 on the Main Stage - The DePaul University Jazz Ensemble directed by Bob Lark

All daytime concerts are FREE and open to the public. In addition to our featured guest artists, over 40 high school and junior high bands will be performing in five different venues throughout the school.

We will be broadcasting LIVE from the Main Stage all day on NTJAZZ.COM, WNTH 88.1, and on local cable channels 16 and 18. The LIVE broadcast will beginning at 8:30 AM, and will conclude following the last note of the evening concert featuring the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.
