After selling out shows across Europe including Poland's acclaimed Poznan Philharmonic, Grazyna Auguscik returns to Chicago for this special intimate performance at THE CAVE! The Grazyna Auguscik Group features Grazyna Auguscik (vocals), Matt Ulery (bass), Rob Clearfield (keys) & Jon Deitemyer (drums). The gifted ensemble will also feature a special guest appearance by guitarist Dani Rabin of Chicago-based Israeli ambient jazz duo -Marbin.

Grazyna Auguscik is one of the most intriguing contemporary vocalists on the world jazz scene. The Chicago-based singer, composer, arranger, and producer has an elusive style that challenges traditional definitions of jazz and reveals an artist with no boundaries. Her unorthodox approach to rewriting classic works is at once a tribute to its authors as well as an adventure into uncharted territory, while her own compositions are fresh and original.

Auguscik's professional music career began in Europe. Grazyna completed her studies in 1992 at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, and has since become a prolific collaborator sharing the stage with such jazz notables as Jim Hall, Toots Thielemans, Michael and Randy Brecker, Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Medeski, Terry Callier, Patricia Barber and many others. The Grazyna Auguscik Orkestar Universale Project presented at Chicago's Millennium Park received a standing ovation, reaffirming that music can communicate across boundaries of any language.

"Auguscik and her ensemble sound like nothing else you ever heard; they are out of this world. This must-see performer is one of the best voices to be heard today" - Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune

"With stunning use of her lithe, mobile voice she is doing important work in advancing the potential for imaginative jazz singing" - Don Heckman, L.A. Times

"... coolly sensuous voice, infectious music..." - Neil Tesser

About Guest Performer - Dani Rabin of Marbin
Dani Rabin mixes traditional jazz with folky acoustic strumming, classical fingerpicking and Middle Eastern rhythmic flavor. The Israeli guitarist recently relocated to Chicago with his ambient jazz duo, Marbin. Formed with saxophonist Danny Markovitch in 2007, Marbin has received acclaim throughout the Israeli music circuit.

Marbin released their self titled debut album in 2009. Their sound combines elements of jazz, ambient, world (Mediterranean) and rock. Their record received a 4.5 star rating from Downbeat Magazine as well as praise from other major publications such as the Chicago Tribune, Drum! Magazine, A.V Onion Club, Modern Drummer and more. Marbin also collaborated with 7 time GRAMMY award winner Paul Wertico on his critically acclaimed record Impressions of a City. Marbin is currently working on their 2nd album that will include Wertico on drums and percussion.

About THE CAVE @ Serbian Cultural Center - St. Sava
THE CAVE @ Serbian Cultural Center - St. Sava is an imaginative new underground performance venue. Literally modeled after a cave in design, this venue has the mystical feel of a fantasy land located far beyond its actual location in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. Sound fills every crevice of The Cave's acoustically balanced intimate performance space. The unique floor plan provides plenty of room for dancing and tables for lounging while sipping on a cocktail from the bar. A full bar is available for patrons over 21 years-old.

After opening its doors in mid-2009, The Cave has hosted numerous multi-cultural performances. With a focus on music from the former Yugoslavia, diversity and quality also play a large role in programming. The Cave has hosted musicians from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Canada, Africa, Brazil and the United States.

Founded in 1952, the Serbian Cultural Club St. Sava was officially changed to The Serbian Cultural Center in 2007. This name change reflected an expanding membership to include not only Serbs, but also others wanting to learn about and participate in Serbian traditions and celebrations.
