KENOSHA JAZZ FEST WELCOMES SAXOPHONIST MARION MEADOWS
On Saturday, August 21, 2010, the HarborPark Jazz and Blues Festival in Kenosha, WI celebrates its 7th
anniversary with a lineup of smooth jazz, salsa, and string ensemble performers. Since 2004, the festival has welcomed many national and regional jazz and blues artists and attracted thousands of concertgoers to Kenosha's scenic lakefront.

This year's headliner is saxophonist Marion Meadows, who earned his break while playing his horn in Grand
Central Station. His sound caught the ear of composer Jay Chattaway who signed Meadows to his record label and
introduced him to jazz great, Bob James. Meadows went on to perform with Eartha Kitt, Brook Benton, and the
Temptations, before launching his solo career in 1990.
The festival also features Nabori, an 11-piece salsa band from Milwaukee. Nabori's music transports listeners to
the barrios of Puerto Rico and to the streets of Latin Harlem in New York City. The ensemble is an audience favorite at Summerfest, Jazz In The Park, the Kohler Arts Festival, and other area venues.

In addition, the strolling musicians of Tremper High School's Golden Strings will entertain with their brand of
classical and pop music. Under the direction of Helen Breitenbach, the Golden Strings have toured the United States and the world, acting as musical ambassadors in Hong Kong, Austria, and Germany. They are celebrating their 38th year and are releasing a CD this summer.

This year's festival welcomes back Artists Row, where visual artists and craftsmen from Kenosha's Lemon Street
Gallery will practice their talents and sell their goods. The event also includes corporate and nonprofit group displays.

Gates open at 3:00 p.m. with artisans creating and selling their work. Music starts at 4:00 p.m. with music by the
Golden Strings. Meadows performs at 7:30 p.m.
Food and refreshments are available for purchase. Concertgoers may also bring wine, cheese, and other food and beverages, along with lawn chairs and blankets, to enjoy their musical and fine arts experience.
Ticket sales begin on July 1.
