In celebration of the life and masterful musical work of jazz icon Miles Davis, Mayor Richard M. Daley has proclaimed Thursday, December 11, 2008 as
“Miles Davis – Kind of Blue Day” in Chicago.
The Proclamation will be presented during a special musical and film tribute program honoring the 50th Anniversary release of the quadruple-platinum (over 4 million sold) and best-selling jazz album of all time – “Kind of Blue”.
Join Chicago jazz lovers in celebrating the PREMIERE release of a new documentary chronicling Miles Davis epic musical journey, “KIND OF BLUE: 50th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTOR’S EDITION”, which will have its Chicago premiere on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Columbia College’s Film Row Cinema, 1104 South Wabash Avenue, on the 8th Floor.
Sponsored by SONY/BMG Music Entertainment and the Arts, Entertainment and Media management Department of Columbia College Chicago, this event will be hosted by the legendary jazz enthusiast and WVON (1690-AM) Radio talk show host Cliff Kelley, and is FREE and open-to-the-public. In addition, a young, innovative jazz trumpeter - - Leon Q. Allen, a Columbia College graduate and winner of the Sony ‘Young Jazz Innovator’s ‘ award will perform during this premiere screening event.
