Celebrating Music in Illinois will be the focus of Arts Alliance Awards 2010, the annual gala of Arts Alliance Illinois, formerly the Illinois Arts Alliance.

The Arts Alliance will honor Joan W. Harris, chairman of the Irving Harris Foundation for commitment to promoting the value of the arts in society and her leadership and support of numerous civic and cultural organizations in Chicago, Illinois, and beyond.

Also to be honored is Orbert Davis, co-founder and artistic director of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, highly acclaimed and sought after trumpeter, composer, arranger, and conductor, and faculty member of the University of Illinois. Special recognition will be given to 98.7WFMT for its 60 years of presenting the best of classical music and other fine arts programming to the widest possible audience, and serving as an important cultural resource locally, nationally, and internationally through cable and syndicated programming. Richard Steele of WBEZ/91.5 FM will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The annual gala, which celebrates the rich cultural life of Chicago and Illinois by honoring individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to the arts state-wide, will be held on Wednesday, November 3, at the MCA Warehouse, 1747 W. Hubbard Street in Chicago, beginning at 6 p.m.

Guests at the annual event include the leaders of virtually every major cultural institution, theater, museum and arts council throughout the state. The co-chairs of Arts Alliance Awards 2010 are Christine A. Holm, Fifth Third Bank, and Julia Perkins, MBMD Strategic Consultants, LLC. Vice Chairs are Michelle T. Boone, The Joyce Foundation, and Greg Cameron, WTTW 11/98.7 WFMT. Benefit Sponsors include the McCormick Foundation, The Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust and the Irving Harris Foundation.
