Dear friends,
Once in a while I decide to come out of my comfortable life as a musician and venture into the role of a producer and sometimes I even succeed. On July 24th, 2008 I produced the 50th years of Bossa Nova celebration at the Millennium Park. We had one of the largest audience there for a jazz concert, around 12000 people.
It worked well because I was backed by the City of Chicago, Chicago Jazz Institute, the Brazilian Consulate, and the media, specially Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune.

Now, my project is not for such a big audience but it is equal in importance, the 100th anniversary of one of, if not the, greatest Brazilian composer, Noel Rosa.

Noel was a pioneer of today's exquisite and unique Brazilian samba music known by many adjectives such as Bossa Nova but at heart they are all samba. He was born on December 11th, 1910, lived only 27 years but in a time span of 8 years he composed over 250 songs which stood the test of time and sound as fresh today as when they were composed.

On December 11th, 2010, I'm producing a concert to honor Noel, our "Poeta da Vila" (Poet of the Vila). My first thought was to produce an intimate, simple, concert that could be self funded but as the time passed my mind changed, It's Noel Rosa that we are talking about and we should create a memorable concert to honor such a great master.

The concert will be at the International House at The University of Chicago at 7:30 p.m. My friends, 9 of Chicago's top Brazilian musicians, will be with me on the stage which is been built to mimic a bar of the old Rio de Janeiro. The musicians will perform seated around tables just as in the samba jam sessions where Noel composed and showcased most of his songs. The whole concert will be video recorded to preserve the event.

A web page dedicated to Noel has been built on my website and will be permanently part of it. After the concert the video will be posted on his page together with a complete biography of Noel.

There are many ways that you could be part of this memorable event:
a) By purchasing the tickets in advance on Noel's page http://www.paulinhogarcia.com/noel-rosa-project.html.

b) By making a donation as a patron of the arts to "Jazzmin Music, 2431 W. Belle Plaine Ave. Chicago, IL 60618 USA"

c) By becoming a sponsor and buying an add space in our program book which will be available to the attendees of the event. *We have 10 more days before we send the program to print.

*The best thing about being a patron of the arts or a sponsor is that your name and, or, logo will be posted on Noel's web page and will be permanently part of this great event. I'm sure his page will have thousands of visitors from all over the world as my own site does.

I hope to count on your support and would like to remind you that tickets are limited and may be sold out well in advance. Any tickets left will be available for cash at the door in a first come first served basis.

I take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank you all for your support of my music and life.
Paulinho Garcia
