The PianoForte Foundation, one of Chicago's vibrant music nonprofit organizations specializing in intimate classical and jazz performance, is picking up its noteworthy PianoForte Salon Series and moving it to the Sherwood Conservatory at Columbia College Chicago for its new season beginning on September 5. The series is broadcast on WFMT 98.7 FM from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. every Friday from early September to late June. The PianoForte Salon Series is free and open to the public.
Before the move, The PianoForte Foundation Salon Series has been held in the showroom of PianoForte Chicago, located in the Fine Arts Building at 410 S. Michigan Avenue. The new space at the Sherwood Conservatory’s recital hall at 1312 S. Michigan Ave., will allow for more attendance and a more comfortable, "concert-like" atmosphere. The first broadcast on September 5 will feature pianist/composer Sebastian Huydts, who is Director of Keyboard Studies at Columbia College Chicago.
The remainder of the series promises top solo piano and chamber music performers, many of whom are from the Chicago area. Some highlights are local composer/pianist Miguel Kertsman, rising star Naomi Kudo and Sherwood piano faculty member Laura Fenster. For the full list of scheduled performers, visit pianofortefoundation.org.
