Ryuichi Sakamoto at the Vic Theatre Chicago on October 26th 2010
As part of his North American tour Japanese composer, actor, musician and activist will stop in Chicago and perform solo piano at the Vic Theatre on Tuesday October 26th 2010 at 8 PM. He will perform with two grand pianos, one pre-programmed. The program will include shorter solo piano versions of his various film soundtracks, most notably, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and The Last Emperor. This rare tour is in support of his new double CD, which includes Playing the Piano; short, zen like, improvisations on the themes of his cinematic compositions and Out of Noise; an exploration of the boundaries between music and noise. The concert will also feature projected minimalist images.
