Jazz Cabaret: Tammy McCann
Friday, June 11, 2010 - 7:00pm
Columbus Park Refectory
5701 W. Jackson Boulevard
Chicago, IL
Vocalist Tammy McCann has spent years honing her craft on her way to becoming one of the premier jazz vocalists in Chicago. When asked to describe Tammy McCann's voice, saxophonist and Chicago legend Von Freeman declared, "Everyone who hears her loves her. She's a natural talent".
Her live shows consist of a mix of jazz standards as well as her own original music, all of it performed with a rotating cast of top-notch Chicago jazz musicians accompanying her. Because she had spent many years working in Europe, she never had acquired the reputation that she deserved back home. And though she had been playing neighborhood festivals in Chicago, she never received the marquee billing that a talent of her caliber merits.
In reference to her recent CD "Never Let Me Go,” Chicago Tribune jazz critic Howard Reich wrote: “Anyone who has followed music in Chicago during the past few years already knows about McCann's voice, a sumptuous instrument that's as huge as all outdoors and tends to envelop any room she's in. But there's so much more to her art than the size and scope of her sound, and she finally has produced a recording that proves it.”
Join us on Friday June 11th in the idyllic Columbus Park Refectory for what is sure to be an incredible show.
