Jon Faddis and The Chicago Jazz Ensemble (The CJE) continue the celebration of the 10th American Heritage Jazz Series with The Great American Songbook featuring vocalist Bobbi Wilsyn, NEA Jazz Master Curtis Fuller and vocalist Ron Hawking as well as the premiere of the ASCAP Jazz Commissioning Programming salute to the life, work and 90th birthday of Hank Jones on Friday, February 20, 2009.
The concert features the music of Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and others. Drawing on classic charts from The CJE’s library as well as from Faddis’ own collection, the evening is sure to present some of everyone’s favorite compositions from America’s masters.
