AVA LOGAN
Ava Logan, "Chicago Jazz Singer" and Chicago Jazz Band leader is an award winning singer-actress from Washington, D.C., who now lives in the Chicago area. A graduate of Yale and the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Logan, a Jazz Vocalist is a veterinarian by day and a jazz singer at night is available for Corporate Events. The classically trained vocalist has performed jazz, pop, and rhythm and blues in the U.S. and abroad. She has portrayed two of her idols, Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson, at the Black Ensemble Theater.
Highlights of Ava’s active roster of show venues are included here. In April 2009, she gave a Pre-Game performance for the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. In March 2009, she presented “Ella and Friends”, a one woman tribute to the singer and her contemporaries at the Skokie Theater in Skokie, IL. For New Year’s Eve, she was requested to perform at one of Chicago’s most prominent jazz venues, Pops for Champagne, after having appeared there for three weekends in the fall of 2008. In August 2008, she made her first appearance at the Jazz Unites, Inc. 27th Annual Jazz Festival held at the South Shore Cultural Center. She recently performed as a regular, weekly vocalist at the Palm Court Lounge of Chicago’s historic Drake Hotel. She has appeared at some of Chicago’s most esteemed music venues including Pops for Champagne, the Drury Lane Water Tower Theater, Millennium Park, Maxim’s for the City of Chicago, Chicago Cultural Center, and the Green Dolphin. She has also performed at the Peninsula Hotel in downtown Chicago. She has appeared at the Park West Theater, Andy’s Jazz Club, Davenport’s, and Café Pyrenees Restaurant in Libertyville, IL. She recently concluded a weekly, year (plus) long appearance at Pete Miller’s Jazz Lounge in Wheeling, IL. She also performs occasionally at the Pete Miller’s Evanston location. She appears monthly at 94 West Restaurant in Orland Park, IL. This summer’s appearances include the Maywood and Olympia Fields Jazz Festivals and Pops for Champagne. She has upcoming appearances at Andy’s Jazz Club in October and November, 2009.
In California, she has performed for the Lorraine Jackson Foundation Pearls of Hope Breast Cancer Benefit Gala held at the Four Seasons Hotel of Beverly Hills, CA. From that appearance she was asked to sing at a benefit for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of Orange County, CA. Most recently, she performed for the Lorraine Jackson Foundation Benefit Gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel of Beverly Hills and will appear at the gala this fall.
She has released “So Many Stars”, her first major CD! National airplay began in September, 2008. The CD has received rave reviews! It was produced by Henry Johnson, who played guitar for Joe Williams for many years. She worked with world renowned musicians on this project, Larry Novak (who has played for Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole and Sarah Vaughn) on piano, Larry Gray on bass, and Leon Joyce on drums (the latter two gentlemen presently of the Ramsey Lewis trio).
