Listening Session with Paquito D'Rivera Thursday Nov. 3rd International House



On Friday, November 4th, 2016, at 7:30 PM, the University of Chicago Presents hosts award-winning jazz and classical musician Paquito D’Rivera and his quintet in the Performance Hall at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts as the second performance in the 2016/17 Jazz at the Logan series.

The universally-loved clarinetist and saxophonist D’Rivera presents arrangements of classical repertoire by legendary composers, including Chopin, Beethoven, and Mozart, for jazz quintet. This program, titled Jazz Meets the Classics, earned the jazz all-star his 14th GRAMMY Award and 2015 Best Latin Jazz album.

Recently added: On Thursday, November 3, at 7:30 PM, at International House, there will be a Listening Session with D’Rivera, hosted by Ben Waltzer, pianist, writer, and Klingensmith Program Director, UChicago Careers in Journalism, Arts, and Media. Together they will discuss D’Rivera’s music, inspiration and influences. The event is presented in partnership with International House and is free and open to the public.
