Second Monday Blues Series, FREE! Hosted by Billy Branch

UPCOMING SERIES BY THE LOGAN CENTER OF THE ARTS

As you well know, the Logan Center for the Arts is one of the few institutions supporting the Blues by providing quality Blues programs for our community. We want to get the word out about this upcoming series, so the Logan Center will continue supporting the Blues! It just so happens that the first featured artist at this intimate event is Jimmy Johnson!

The Second Monday Blues Series is FREE SERIES sponsored by the Logan Center for the Arts.

It is an intimate Blues series featuring internationally recognized Blues legends and emerging artists.

It will be hosted by 3 time Grammy nominee and Emmy Award winner, Billy Branch.

Billy Branch will feature the legendary JIMMY JOHNSON , who is soon-to-be 90 years old! He was playing the Blues BEFORE the birth of rock and roll! BACKSTORY: Chicago’s South Side was once the burgeoning mecca of the Chicago Blues. While the immortal influence of Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, and Willie Dixon thrive around the world, the presence of this powerful African American folk music has all but dissipated on the Southside of Chicago. The Logan Center has taken giant strides to bring this cultural legacy to the forefront of South Side culture by featuring the Chicago Blues in 3 significant events: 1) the annual October Blues Fest; 2) School Music Programs; and 3) a Monthly Blues series in the Logan Café entitled, Logan Center Second Monday Blues Hosted by Billy Branch

Attached is a digital poster for this first event featuring almost 90 years old, Jimmy Johnson.
