September 1st, Mike Allemana, musician/composer/arranger, performed "Vonology" an homage to his late mentor Chicago tenor legend Von Freeman at the 2022 Chicago Jazz Festival. Mike Allemana guitar, Victor Garcia trumpet & flugelhorn, Greg Ward alto sax, Geof Bradfield tenor sax, Raphael Crawford trombone, Alison Chesley cello, Matt Ferguson bass, and Michael Raynor drums. Vocals by Sue Demel, Lindasy Weinberg, Alton Smith and Bill Brickley. Conducted by Brian Allemana. Visual artist Lewis Achenback created artwork in response to the music.
