SUNDAY JAZZ AT THE PROMONOTORY - MARCH AND APRIL SHOWS CANCELLED
Dear Jazzy Friends of HPJS,
We at the Hyde Park Jazz Society join you in being disappointed at our having to cancel our March & April shows at Promontory. These are difficult times for everyone, but we also understand how extremely tough they are for our wonderful jazz musicians who often don’t have “day jobs.” They are usually on their own for medical care in addition to the basics of living (shelter, utilities, transportation, food, medicine). Please think about them while we are socially distanced. Perhaps purchase a jazz CD from a favorite musician? maybe offer a musician a gift card to a pizza place that delivers or to a restaurant that offers take-out?
When you are not playing records or CD’s, be sure to listen to jazz on our favorite radio stations (streaming available): WDCB 90.9fm (every day + early evenings, and lots of other times -- https://wdcb.org) and WHPK 88.5fm (weekends and parts of most evenings -- http://whpk.org/schedule/).
We’ll keep you posted about our status sometime in April. In the meantime, stay safe; stay well; and keep listening to the music!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Tickets and entry are at the top of the stairs at the Promontory, located at 5311 S. Lake Park West, 2nd floor. There is also an elevator available on the south side of the 1st floor restaurant. The price remains at $10 general admission with $5 for students with ID's, but we strongly urge that you purchase online to guarantee speedy entry into the club (there is a service fee that goes to the ticketing company)
There will be 2 sets: Set #1 from 7:30-8:30; Set #2 from 9:00-10:00pm. Doors open at 7pm. We encourage people to arrive no later than 7:10. The shows will begin promptly at 7:30 & 9:00. Note that a Reggae set begins when we leave at 10:00pm, though Jazz Society patrons may remain at no extra charge.
If you are planning to dine at the Promontory restaurant on the first floor before or after the show, we recommend making a reservation at http://promontorychicago.com/restaurant/reservations/ or (312) 801-2100. We have been told that the music venue will offer bottles of wine at 50% off, and people who eat in the 1st floor restaurant will have the same 1/2 price arrangement and be able to have their wine brought upstairs. There are also $5 specials on some glasses of wine.
There is FREE on-street parking on Sundays!
