June 05, 2025 - The Blueshift Big Band & Neil Carson performed music from modern video games and much more at the Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago.
The evening opened with a solo piano performance from Jer Roque, shredding video game music on keys. The band included Joel Baer drums / co-leader, Chris Parsons guitar / co-leader, Neil Carson – guest conductor / arranger/soloist, Dan Parker bass, and Brad Macdonald piano. Saxes included Matt Beck, Evon Sams, Gerald Martinez, Sam Pilnick, and Karli Bunn. Trombones included Josh Torrey, Andrew Meyer, Grant Dawson, and Nick Roach.
Trumpets included Chuck Parrish, Sam Wolsk, Bennett Heinz, and Juliette Gardiner. Visual artist Ryan Miller created original paintings in response to the music.
