6/23/26 - The Evon J. Sams Sextet performed his latest album release “Mother Earth 2.0” at the Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago. Mother Earth 2.0 is a continuation of the Mother Earth Saga from the mind of composer and multi-instrumentalist Sams. The album explores some of the work from his first iteration of Mother Earth and also features a new three-movement suite that depicts nature’s resiliency in the face of human advancement. The music also addresses growing concerns surrounding AI. This album is complemented by the addition of two jazz standards, “Nature Boy” and “Night and Day.” Evon J. Sams sax, flute, and bass clarinet, Austyn Menk piano and keys, Nat Lin bass, Sid Smith IV drums & cymbals, Mellisa Wang percussion, and featured Alysha Monique on vocals. The evening featured live painting from visual artist Arthur Wright in response to the music.
