JAZZ PHOTOGRAPHY RECAP: Hidden Nomination Performs Two Exceptional Sets at FSC by Harvey Tillis

April 21, 2025 - Hidden Nomination performed at the Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago following a celebrated residency at Cliff Bell’s, one of Detroit’s most iconic jazz clubs. They blended fusion jazz, funk, R&B, gospel, and neo-soul, creating high-energy performances with delicate melodic interplay. Houston Patton on alto and tenor saxophones, Andre Crawford on piano, Dylan Sherman on bass, and Brian Allen on drums & cymbals with special guest Michael Pineda on tenor sax. Visual artist Tamara Wasserman created original artwork in response to the music.

I especially love how you've captured the interplay between the saxophones and the piano.

Thinking about the different dimensions of sound they create makes me imagine what a visual representation of it would be like. Maybe someone will create a wild visualizer that goes completely crazy, something akin to crazy cattle 3d, reflecting the energy and fusion in their jazz. Looking forward to seeing more of your work, Harvey!
