Jack Sundstrom’s "Songs From an Island That Doesn’t Exist" Performed at FSC
Bassist/composer Jack Sundstrom performed a new suite of music that highlights the history of Irish resistance to colonialism and its intersection with other colonial resistance movements. Titled, "The Fenian Bastard Suite", the music draws from Sundstrom’s Irish heritage and training as a jazz musician as well as other global traditions to create a unique sound world from an imagined solarpunk society of the future. Visual artist Dale Pessman created original artwork in response to the music. Jack Sundstrom bass/compositions, Janelle Finton trumpet, Karli Bunn alto sax & flute, Geof Bradfield tenor sax & bass clarinet, Josh Torrey trombone, Hugo Flores guitar & electronics, Isaiah Jones Jr. piano, Marcus Evans drums & cymbals, and special guests. Visual artist Dale Pesman created original artwork in response to the music.
