JAZZ PHOTOGRAPHY RECAP: Lizzi Trumbore & the John Havrilla Sextet Perform at FSC by Harvey Tillis
10/7/26 - Lizzi Trumbore brought a compelling mix of original songwriting, jazz sensibility, and intimate piano-driven pop to the Fulton Street Collective. Her strong, expressive voice gave the songs emotional depth, moving comfortably between delicate phrasing and moments of real power. At the piano, she combined sophisticated arrangements with a natural storytelling quality, creating performances that felt both musically adventurous and deeply personal. Accompanied on one tune by Millie Ahearn on trumpet and on another by John Havrilla playing sax it was an engaging set that showcased her gifts as a vocalist, composer, and performer.
The John Havrilla Sextet brought a dynamic blend of modern jazz and contemporary influences to the Fulton Street Collective. Led by saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer John Havrilla, the group featured Millie Ahearn on trumpet, Jackson Wheeler on guitar, Hana Fujisaki on piano, Nat Lin on bass, and Diego Rodriguez on drums and cymbals.
Visual artist Dale Pesman created original paintings in response to the music.
