June 15, 2025 - OPUS 216 made their Chicago debut in a unique program at the Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago. Their music spans the early American Jazz Age, Parisian café jazz, iconic bossa, Mexican jazz, and South American folk music. This multi-genre ensemble reimagines jazz, folk, and modern works through a classically-trained musical lens that also leans heavily on improvisation. Their third studio album, “Live from Suma”, was released on May 30 and exclusively features French, South American, and Mexican jazz. The band includes Ariel Karas violin, Brian Slawta viola, Trevor Kazarian cello, and Steven Brija bass and features Patrick Duke Graney at percussion. Visual artist Julian Camacho created original paintings in response to the music.
