5/14/26 - A unique and beautiful collection of music exploring ancient Indian raags opened the first set at the Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago. Prabir Mehta produced a fusion of classical Indian into western settings using guitar and familiar melodic structures accompanied by Prudhvi Meda on the mridanga, a primary, ancient, two-headed hand drum from India played horizontally featuring a clay or wood shell and leather heads. The second set of all original music was performed by Steps Trio consisting of composer/arranger Charles Thomas on guitar, Peter Isaac bass, and James Kardos drums & cymbals. Visual artist Alex Puryear created original music in response to the music.
