October 30, 2024 - The Evan J Sams Nonet played two sets including original charts composed by Sams at the Fulton Street Collective, FSC, in Chicago. Sams is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, teacher, and artist from Rockford, Illinois. His unique approach to music is a blend of classical music, jazz, world music, R&B, and hip hop, among many others. The nonet consisted of Sams on alto sax and flute, Kenneth Leftridge tenor sax and flute, Jacob Slocum bari sax and flute, Gabriel Wade trumpet, Dakarai Barclay trumpet, Royce Harrington-Turner trombone, Austyn Menk piano, Matt Ulery bass, Cliff Wallace drums & cymbals. Visual artist Micah Rademacher created original art in response to the performance.
