The Hyde Park Jazz Festival Announces the 2019

The Hyde Park Jazz Festival will present more than three-dozen performances and feature Chicago, national, and international artists representing the extraordinary breadth of jazz artistry in 2019.
Special 2019 projects at the fest include:
One of jazz’s most sought-after drummers, Willie Jones III leads an all-star, straight-ahead ensemble to celebrate the music of the late, great Roy Hargrove.
Several programs in partnership with Logan Center for the Arts including Angel Bat Dawid’s Requiem for Jazz as well as Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few's The Story of 400 Years, both of which will explore the
Willie Jones III
complex social history of jazz, and celebrate the resilience and continual rebirth of African American culture.
A very special performance in Rockefeller Chapel by critically acclaimed trumpeter/composer Amir ElSaffar, who will perform his composition titled Ahwaal, a program mixing different musical worlds and blurring intercultural borders. Ahwaal was originally commissioned by the Jazztopad Festival and features Polish musicians, Ksawery Wójciński, Waclaw Zimple, and the Lutosławski Quartet.
