11/22/19 - The Fulton Street Collective presented the Chicago Yestet for a two-set performance with visual artist Arthur Wright. JOHN WOJCIECHOWSKI alto, NICK MAZZARELLA alto, HUNTER JAY DIAMOND tenor, CHUCK PARRISH trumpet, RUSS JOHNSON trumpet, TOM GARLING trombone, JOEL ADAMS trombone, MIKE ALLEMANA guitar, STU MINDEMAN piano, CLARK SOMMERS bass, NEIL HEMPHILL drums, KEITH HARRIS spoken word, MAGGIE BURRELL vocals , ARTHUR WRIGHT paints/brushes/canvas. The Chicago Yestet is a band with 7 horns, rhythm section, some spoken word, and a great vocalist. They play original music that all grooves and the band includes some of the best and busiest musicians in Chicago. With a mind to social consciousness, their music is influenced by John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Bob Brookmeyer, The Beatles, Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, J.S. Bach, P.D.Q Bach, Thad Jones, Spike Jones, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams and many others.
