Copy of JAZZ PHOTO RECAP: Hyde Park Jazz Festival Pt 01 by Alan Frohlichstein
The 20th Annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival took place on September 26–27, 2026, across 10 locations on Chicago's South Side. Admission was free and performances spanned 10 to 11 unique indoor and outdoor stages, including the Midway Plaisance, Rockefeller Chapel, Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, DuSable Black History Museum, and Hyde Park Bank. The milestone 20th year featured returning artists who grew up alongside the festival, such as Tomeka Reid, Nicole Mitchell, Marquis Hill, and Makaya McCraven.
The second day highlighted prominent Chicago jazz staples, legacy acts, and dynamic local ensembles, featuring sets from the Ari Brown Quintet, Core Wilkes Sextet, Big Chief Donald Harrison Quartet, Thaddeus Tukes Sextet + M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Miguel de la Cerna Quartet, and a continuation with The Brown Sisters.
