This weekend, vocalist/composer Milton Suggs returns to Chicago for two performances with his own ensembles for the first time since 2014. On Friday, February 21, Suggs and a quintet of musicians will appear in Hyde Park at Hyde Park Union Church—the church home of his godparents, pianist Willie and Irma Pickens.
This concert, More Than A Dream: A Musical Tribute to Rev. King, features arrangements of jazz standards and original music based on the speeches and sermons of Martin Luther King, Jr. Listeners will also hear Rev. King in his own words as clips of his speeches will be played atop the music at various points throughout the performance. Details can be found in the above poster, or by visiting miltonsuggs.com.
