Jazz Record Collective Announces November Performances



November is an exciting month at the Jazz Record Collective as they announce two concerts in Chicago and one in Brooklyn, New York!

What is the Jazz Record Collective? Former manager of the Green Mill Jazz Club, Chris Anderson, along with Joe Lanasa, director of the Fulton Street Collective produce the Jazz Record Art Collective, a monthly series providing local musicians and visual artists the opportunity to collaborate and pay homage to iconic Jazz artists by reinterpreting a historically influential jazz record.

Taking place in the gallery space at Fulton Street Collective, these events also showcase the work of a select visual artist who simultaneously responds to the music through the creation of a live piece. All artwork is for sale & all event proceeds directly support the artists involved along with the volunteers who help facilitate this collaborative event.

Coming up in November...

Sunday, November 13 the series moves to the Jalopy Theater in Brooklyn, NY for a one-night performance. The Christopher McBride Quintet will be performing Gigi Gryce and Donald Byrd's 1957 release JAZZ LAB. The evening will also feature a solo exhibit by artist Amanda Brown who will do a live painting of the band’s performance.

Wednesday November 16 JRAC is back at Fulton Street Collective where the Larry Brown Jr. Quartet will be performing Wes Montgomery’s newly released 1959 recording ONE NIGHT IN INDY. The night will also feature a showcase and live painting from visual artist Lisha Misha.

Wednesday November 30 JRAC finishes the month at Fulton Street Collective where the Joan Hickey Sextet will be performing Herbie Hancock's 1968 release SPEAK LIKE A CHILD. The night will also feature a showcase and live painting from visual artist Chris Walker.
